Klöntalersee is just over an hours drive from Zurich and so makes for the perfect day trip from the city. When road tripping through this country the views on route are often spectacular given the mountain back drops, and typical rural Swiss beauty.

No matter how many mountain views you've been lucky enough to see, it always remains a "wooow" type moment when they eventually come into full view.

In the summertime the water is still extremely 'fresh', but you can certainly take a swim in the lake if you're feeling brave enough? Travelling to Klöntalersee at the beginning of spring meant we didn't have the choice of this luxury, however it did mean we were treated to some incredible views of the frozen lake.

Klöntalersee is also a great place to pitch up a tent if you want spend more than a day enjoying natures glorious tranquility. Camp fires are allowed in pretty much all the surrounding area, and lets be honest there aren't many better views than the mountains and lake to wake up to.
